Who qualifies for the SASSA Care Dependency Grant?

The qualification criteria are set up for the child who requires assistance and their guardian who can manage to assist them individually.

Guardian\Caretaker Must:

  • be a South African citizen or permanent resident;
  • be a parent, primary caregiver, or foster parent appointed by the court
  • If you are married, your total annual income should not exceed R446 400.

The child should be:

  • Less than 18 years old 
  • Should not be under the permanent care of any other institution.
  • Have a serious disability that necessitates full-time and specialised care.
